Sweet Peas 2010 - 2011

2010/11 Sweet Peas: Gwendoline, Border Beauty, Valerie Harrod

16/10/2010

Another Sweet Pea Season underway. 2010/2011 I have seeded by Sweet Peas on 16/10/2010 and after 7 days I could not help to have a little peep under the soil to see how they are doing!OH NO! They have seemed to rotten off, This is a disaster and the onlything I can do now is take out the rotten peas and replant.

Sweet peas at 20/11/10

As you can see the sweet peas are growing well.
I have also tried the plastic pots this year as well starting some in a clay pot with 10 seeds around the edge so i can prick out later.
Colder weather was setting at this date

Sweet Peas 27/12/10
Just been in a very cold spell for the last 4 weeks and it got down to -11c here in Torquay on some nights as well as snowfall.
Protected peas inside a coldframe opening the lights in the daytime and closing at night.
On the very cold night i have used a old net curtain over the top.

The soil has been frozen a quite a number of days.

Update. 29th December Mild weather now arrived up to 10C in the daytime Lights have now been left open.

Sweet Peas as of 20/1/11
